Buyer's Guide

How to buy a car at wholesale auction prices.

Wholesale car buying is the practice of purchasing a vehicle at the same price dealers pay at closed auctions, then paying a transparent flat fee to a licensed broker instead of the retail markup a dealership adds. This guide explains how wholesale auto auctions work, why the price gap between wholesale and retail exists, and how a buyer's-side concierge sources the exact car you want for thousands less than a traditional dealership.

What is wholesale car buying?

Every used car on a dealership lot started at a wholesale auction. Dealer-only auctions such as Manheim and ADESA are where manufacturers, rental fleets, lease returns and other dealers send inventory that only licensed, bonded dealers can bid on. The price paid there is the wholesale price — the true market floor before any retail overhead is added.

A traditional dealership buys at that wholesale price, then adds lot holding costs, reconditioning, advertising, sales commissions and finance-and-insurance (F&I) markup before listing the car for you. The difference between what they paid and what you pay is the retail margin — often several thousand dollars on a single vehicle. Wholesale car buying removes that margin by letting you, through a licensed broker, buy at the auction price and pay only a flat sourcing fee.

Why buy wholesale instead of retail?

  • Access to closed dealer-only auctions like Manheim and ADESA
  • No retail lot overhead, sales commissions, or F&I markup baked into the price
  • A single transparent flat fee instead of a hidden percentage markup
  • Nationwide delivery to your door after a pre-purchase inspection

How a car sourcing concierge works

1

Tell us the car you want

Share the year, make, model, trim, mileage and any must-have options. The more specific you are, the more precisely we can target matching units at auction.

2

We search wholesale auctions

As a licensed, bonded dealer we have direct access to Manheim, ADESA and other wholesale channels the public cannot enter. We filter for condition reports, vehicle history and market value.

3

You see the real numbers

We present the wholesale acquisition cost and our flat concierge fee side by side with comparable retail pricing, so you can see exactly what you save before you commit.

4

Inspection, purchase and delivery

After a pre-purchase inspection we buy the vehicle, handle paperwork, and arrange nationwide delivery straight to your driveway.
